Terms of Service

1. About Opporio

Opporio is a platform for making real-world problems, unmet needs and improvement opportunities visible, validating those needs and exploring possible solutions.

Opporio is operated by Jenni Karhunen in Finland. Questions about the service can be sent to info@opporio.com.

2. Your account

You are responsible for the information you provide through your account and for keeping your login credentials secure. You must not impersonate another person or falsely claim an affiliation with a company or organization.

If you use Opporio on behalf of a company or organization, you confirm that you are authorized to act on its behalf where such authority is required.

3. Public contributions

Opportunities, Solutions, comments and other contributions you publish on Opporio may be publicly visible. Do not publish confidential information, trade secrets, personal information you do not have the right to share or anything you want to keep private.

Public content may be viewed by individuals and commercial organizations and may inspire independent development of products, services or other activities.

Public availability does not mean that Opporio has determined that content is free of intellectual property or other third-party rights. Anyone considering using content, including for commercial purposes, is responsible for assessing the applicable rights and obtaining any required permissions.

4. Your content and intellectual property

You retain ownership of the content you submit to Opporio. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights to publish that content.

By publishing content on Opporio, you grant Opporio a non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display and process that content as necessary to operate, secure, develop and improve the service, including creating aggregated and analytical insights.

Opporio may combine and analyze content and activity within the service to identify patterns, trends and other aggregated or analytical insights. Opporio may use, license or commercially offer these insights.

Commercial use of aggregated or analytical insights does not by itself create a right to compensation unless separately agreed.

This licence continues for content that is retained after account deletion in accordance with these Terms and the Privacy Policy. It ends for content that is deleted from the service, except where continued processing is required by law or necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Deletion of an individual contribution does not require Opporio to delete aggregated or analytical insights already created from it, provided that those insights do not identify the contributor or contain the deleted contribution as separately identifiable content.

This licence does not transfer ownership of your content to Opporio. These Terms do not give Opporio the right to sell or commercially license an individual Opportunity, Solution or other contribution as a standalone asset or on its contributor's behalf.

5. Intellectual property protection

Publishing content on Opporio does not itself provide patent, design, copyright or other intellectual property protection. If protecting an invention or other intellectual property is important to you, consider obtaining appropriate advice or protection before sharing detailed information publicly.

Opporio does not review, verify or provide an assessment of the intellectual property rights associated with submitted content. Each user is responsible for the content they publish and for determining whether they have the necessary rights to publish or use it.

6. Community conduct

You must use Opporio constructively and follow the Community Guidelines. You must not use the service for unlawful, deceptive, abusive or harmful activity, spam, manipulation of community signals or infringement of the rights of others.

7. Moderation

Opporio may review reported content and may restrict, remove or otherwise moderate content or accounts when reasonably necessary to protect the service, its users or the rights of others, or to address violations of these Terms or the Community Guidelines.

8. Community signals and information

Validations, votes, comments, themes and other signals on Opporio represent activity within the service. They should not be treated as guarantees of market demand, commercial viability, technical feasibility or the accuracy of a contribution.

9. Service availability and discontinuation

Opporio may change, improve, suspend or discontinue all or any part of the service. Opporio may also discontinue the service as a whole.

Where reasonably possible, users will be given advance notice of permanent discontinuation and an opportunity to delete their account in accordance with section 11 before the service closes. Advance notice may not be possible where immediate action is necessary for legal, security, technical or other compelling reasons.

The service may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, technical issues or circumstances outside Opporio's control.

10. No professional or commercial guarantee

Content and insights available through Opporio are provided for informational and innovation purposes. Opporio does not guarantee that an Opportunity or Solution is accurate, original, legally protectable, commercially viable or suitable for a particular purpose.

Opporio is not a party to and does not assume responsibility for business decisions, development projects, licences or agreements made by users or third parties based on content available through the service.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Opporio is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss resulting from reliance on service content or from the unavailability of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

11. Account deletion

You may permanently delete your account through the available account controls.

Opportunities and Solutions you created are deleted if no other user has participated in them. Participation includes, as applicable, comments, validations, votes or a Solution added by another user.

Contributions that have received participation from another user may be retained under the name "Deleted user" to preserve community discussions, other users' contributions and the structure of the service. Votes and validations may remain as anonymous aggregate signals.

12. Changes to these Terms

Opporio may update these Terms to reflect changes to the service, legal requirements or operating practices. Material changes will be communicated in advance through the service or using the email address associated with the user's account where reasonably possible.

Where a change materially expands Opporio's rights to use an individual contribution, the change will require the user's express agreement and will not apply to previously submitted content without that agreement.

If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the service and delete your account before the change takes effect. Account deletion remains subject to section 11 of these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

13. Applicable law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without limiting any mandatory rights you may have under applicable law.

If a dispute arises, please contact Opporio first so that the matter can be addressed through discussion. These Terms do not restrict a consumer's right to use applicable consumer advice, dispute resolution or court procedures.
